Week 17: Nesting

Well, the nesting stage has begun and is in full effect!  Mike and Julie must have known I needed a baby "stuff" fix and they brought some awesome little gifts that really help the new room feel more like a future baby's room!

Here is my current "baby shrine" in the future room.  See all the cards we've gotten on proud display, and some really fun and thoughtful gifts from future first time grandparents!

Next was a small repair project in the closet that Mike and Eric helped out with.  Just fixed that white thingy above the clothes rod.  This also gives me an excuse to show you another gift from the Morses.  I THINK the word is out on me being obsessed with ducks.

The first baby diapers, wipes and baby bathtime products to bless the house.  The diapers are acting as an air freshener in there right now - they smell like baby!!

Something missing here?  YUP, Eric and Mike took the twin bed down to the basement to make room for (drumroll please)....

The CRIB!  We just ordered it today from Suite Dreams!  It's beginning to look a lot like BABY!!!

Living Room - New fan is up!

Mike and Julie came this weekend to visit and we had yet another triumph in the living room - we put up our new ceiling fan!   Here's handyman Eric taking apart the old one.

Out with the old...

In with the new!  Ta da!!!

Final Living Room Phase: FURNITURE IS HERE!!!

I took the afternoon off yesterday for the long awaited delivery of our furniture.  It was worth it!  Eric and I are in love with the new room.  We had a fire last night and celebrated with our toasting flutes (sparkling grape juice) and spent more time in there in one night since the day we moved in 3 and a half years ago!  I kept saying I felt like we added a whole room to the house!  It is now a room I WANT to spend time in and really am just so thrilled with how it came out.  Finally a room that feels like US and really is a welcoming entry area instead of a dark hole that sucked the life out of all it's gorgeous features!

Since the room gets a lot of morning and afternoon sun, I wanted to photograph it then.  It feels like SPRING has arrived!  You get one guess where we'll be reading our Sunday paper!

Here is the flower chair that really steals the show and pulls so many colors into the room.

We haven't put any art up, but suddenly I realized so much of the framed pieces we already have actually have a home in here with the new colors!  Stay tuned for some Seraut tributes in here (one of Eric's favorite paintings is La Grande Jatte) and somehow this room came out like a shrine to that painting!!  It's slated to go over the fireplace.  :)

The sofa is very firm and inviting you to come have a seat and enjoy the cozy room!

The planets aligned when we bought this before I was pregnant.  It's a swivel glider!  Guess we have a new rock spot for baby

14 Week Morsel Update - Old Wives Tales!

Well, I am 14 weeks and things are going great!  I'm finally getting some much needed energy back, and the once heavenly couch and bed have now turned against me and are making me a little stir-crazy.  Might just be that time of year, who knows!  We just had a doctor appointment Friday where we heard the heartbeat (153) and got to finally visit with my favorite doctor.  We also set up the BIG 20 week appointment where we will find out if it's a boy or girl - that is March 24th.  The gender has been the hot baby topic lately, so I thought I'd make a list of all the old wives tales to show you how things are looking so far:

Old Wives Tale #1 - If you crave salty, it's a boy.  If you crave sweet, it's a girl.
-My top cravings have been pizza, chips, anything with ranch dressing, and nachos.  I have a container of my favorite ice cream that has been sitting in my freezer for 2 weeks.  That's weird for me - pregnant or not!
RESULT - BOY

Old Wives Tale #2 - Chinese Predictor Calendar
RESULT - based on date of conception - BOY.  Based on due date - GIRL.

Old Wives Tale #3 - The necklace trick - when placed over your belly or hand, if it sways from side to side it's a girl, if it goes in a circular motion it's a boy.
-Amber did this trick for me at Nikki's birthday.  According to her necklace, in my lifetime, I will have two girls!
RESULT - GIRL

Old Wives Tale #4 - Baby's heart rate - if it's over 140 it's a girl, less for a boy.
-The baby's heart rate has been 175 and 153 at my most recent appointments.
RESULT - GIRL

Old Wives Tale #5 - If it's a boy, your hair grows faster on your legs.
-No extra hairiness here, thank goodness!  It's already becoming a pain to shave in the first place!
RESULT: GIRL
